RE: Sig Kougar Build

you can try a HIGHER rpm/kv motor then to turn that 12x12 in the proper range.

Well I have been running electrics since the days of Nicads, have converted several models of my own and friends...

RE: Sig Kougar Build

Hi Tommy,

I would have to say you have the wrong setup. 6.5lb plane should run 5S pack preferable 5000maH. Your motor rpm/kv is too slow, and your prop is not matched to a motor that is...

RE: Sig Kougar Build

On 6S @ 1700W that should really move, unless that plane weighs 10lbs+. Sounds as if you may not have the correct electric setup. There are not too many planes that can catch my Kougar and I am...

RE: Sig Kougar Build

I don't even buy wood from them anymore. I have a $20 off $50 order coupon and can't even get to $50.00 with stuff I actually need for 3 projects I have going on, that is unless I want to overpay for...

RE: Sig Kougar Build

Looks like Tower Hobbies is no longer carrying the Kougar. Becoming a more and more irrelevant place to shop, unless all you want is an ARF made by some Chinese women on the production line.

I...

RE: Sig Kougar Build

hey no problem, that combo in that plane is a real eye opener to glow guys. Oops one thing I forgot to tell you, if you go with the 12 pitch prop, it produces so much torque you need to do a nice...

RE: Sig Kougar Build

Yes, don't use the landing gear blocks, if its an old kit, or really any kit that uses a solid piece of wood for landing blocks, odds are one or both will split on a hard landing, then its a big job...

RE: Sig Kougar Build

The foam wing cores do not come joined, so its not an incomplete kit. Use proper adhesive when joining the wing halves and sheeting you won't have a problem. Use 20 minute epoxy for the fuselage, and...

RE: Sig Kougar Build

The more I fly it the more I like it. Its been my go to plane for quite a while now. Does great knife edges, inverted flight, just a great pattern plane.

RE: Sig Kougar Build

I had the double servo aileron on a YAK, I set up the flap function as well. Its really not worth the trouble. Its difficult to set them up evenly so when you throw the flap switch it does not start...

RE: Sig Kougar Build

This seems like an odd problem, as I mentioned my dirt runway surface is pretty rough, my Kougar is lightly built, I even used carpenters wood glue on those blocks and can't see how the wing could be...

RE: Sig Kougar Build

Tough bird!

Had a rough landing yesterday that turned into cartwheels at the end. Broke the nose off at the firewall. But epoxied it back, rebuilt the front lower nose section and flew it the...

RE: Sig Kougar Build

I just measured, I have a 55mm nose and still have the 70mm mains. I did purchase 60mm mains but have not yet switched them because I painted the hubs all aluminum and don't want to bother with...

RE: Sig Kougar Build

Yup, I know electric setups have tons of power and its instant. Really is the perfect power system for R/C airplanes. I have two friends now going 18v and 22v, now possible due to hobbycity LiPo...

RE: Sig Kougar Build

Nice job. Have you bench tested your power setup to make sure there are no issues?

It may just be your big nose wheel, I used a smaller nose and smaller mains, looked more scale correct. I had...

RE: Sig Kougar Build

Hi Jim,

Not exactly its the Canadian Red Ensign flag not Manitoba Provincial. I made all the markings, the "Z" stripes are monocote and pinstripe tape, all the panel lines are taped. The RCAF...

RE: Sig Kougar Build

Hey, sounds great. Any photos?

My Kougar is becoming my regular go to flyer. The only issue I have had is the landing gear blocks, I fly off a rough dirt surface and they have both been broken...

RE: Sig Kougar Build

No problem. I just recieved my latest orders from HC today. When your items do show back in stock, I would jump on it, they can sell out fast. FYI, those HXT9000 micro servos are much better than the...

RE: Sig Kougar Build

Nice. As you can see I took a little from the very early scheme and a little from the later combined forces scheme. Since it was not scale I did what I wanted. I really like the early pre-Trudeau era...

RE: Sig Kougar Build

No, not like that. They seem to have levels that the more you purchase the higher up you go. For example I am a Platinum level member, when I spent about $300-400 I seem to have been put there. Now I...

RE: Sig Kougar Build

I worked my setup a little with more bench testing and some prop tweaking my numbers are:

968 - 980 watts (depends on a weaker 15C battery or not) drawing 68A, 78 oz of static thrust, BLV 13.43...
