I built one and finished it in silver for a more jet like appearance and it was the biggest mistake ever. After 60-70 yards it would almost disappear into the background like it had Romulan cloaking...

You got that right. The 3M77 really grabs tight. Once its on there it would be the devils own row to hoe to pull the sheeting off. I made sure the sheeting would fit as needed before applying any...

PT 19, I used the old version of 3M 77 when I built it, which was quite a few years ago. I sprayed on a light coat on the foam and the balsa sheeting. By the way, I did not use the balsa sheeting...

RE: Sig Kougar Build

Maiden flight report:
The winds were calm this A.M. so I decided this was a make or break for the Kougar.
Installed was a 5S Hyperion 25C 3700 pack set at the correct location for the CG. After...

RE: Sig Kougar Build

The balance point is located anywhere between the leading edge at the wingtip and 1/2" back from the leading edge at the wingtip. Which means you need to string a line from wingtip to wingtip and...

RE: Sig Kougar Build

I may have to order a set of 2" wheels. I'm using Robart scale diamond tread, so they won't be cheap, but it may just do the trick as the ones I'm using now are 2 1/2" . I really don't want to go...

RE: Sig Kougar Build

jeff, I could use a smaller wheel and may have one in my stock. I'll check tonight. Thanks for the tip. Yes it does run very well, almost scary as the prop literally sings.

RE: Sig Kougar Build

Here's mine now finished. For power it has a Scorpion 3026-10 outrunner and 10X7 APCE prop on 5S Lipos. Measured nearly 900 W at just under 60 A with a calculated pitch speed of 93MPH.
I may...

RE: Sig Kougar Build

Well, I removed the Axi from the plane, and have a Scorpion 3026-10 on order. The Axi 2820-10 simply didn't fullfill my power needs.Hehe. So now while I have the cowl off, I'm going to sand it down...

RE: Sig Kougar Build

Hitec makes a nice little wing servo, HS-125MG.Super slim and lightweight, produces standard sport servo torque. I have a glider with very thin wings and will have to use a pair of these for the...

RE: Sig Kougar Build

Heli, I've done that for a number of built-up wings including the venerable Sig Seniorita, which had no ailerons. I really don't care for the torque rod setup unless it's really neccessary. As far as...

RE: Sig Kougar Build

Nice job heli. very simple method and easy to do. Sometimes make me think about ordering another wing and trying it myself. Would like to install retracts as well. Hmmmm, well, maybe next year.

RE: Sig Kougar Build

Jeff, Your Kougar looks really great! Mine also came out to 5# complete. I don't have a pilot for it yet, but he shouldn't add too much to it as long as he watches his weight. LOL
I'm going to...

RE: Sig Kougar Build

The stab is a little flimsy, even as thick as it is. As far as removing weight, I simply used a large hole saw and using my drill press, yes, that's right, I cut holes in the fuse, then followed this...

RE: Sig Kougar Build

We have another Kougar builder! Welcome to the thread! After testing the Axi 2826-10 with a 5S pack, I realized it won't be sufficient: It's limited to a 4S pack and at 45A, it's way over stressed....

RE: Sig Kougar Build

That's because mold release is used in the manufacturing process, otherwise the part would not release from the mold. When it comes to parts such as cowls, wheel pants, etc, they should be washed...

Heli: yes, you can monocote over epoxy. It may take a little patience, but it has been done. Faye Stilley(the Monocote Master) printed an...

RE: Sig Kougar Build

For me it was worth the effort. It does fair in the wing enough to make the appearance better. It just takes a little effort and you may even have to start over. One builder used the foam beds. He...

RE: Sig Kougar Build

A little more clarification is needed.
One thing I did was to "harden" the wing surface out just past the fuse with West Systems finishing epoxy. After curing, I sanded it down and then covered...
