New Sport Jet: T-One Models Mini Fortune / Mini T1

Many thanks to you for your kind words and PM's. I'll try to answer your questions. My batteries are all located over the nose wheel well. I use Industrial Strength Velcro on both the a/c and battery surfaces, then a single wrap to ensure that all three stay intact during any negative G maneuvers. The flying surfaces have a great deal of authority. As an old pattern flyer, and long before EXPO had even been thought of, I still use rates. Generally, take off at Mid Rate, wheels/speed up go to switch to low, and back to mid for landing. I found that the low aileron rate of 3/8" was perfect for my style. Elevator 1", and 1/4" on rudder was perfect for slow and point rolls. This air-frame has 0 coupling. Steering is very sensitive, so you need very little steerage once the plane is in motion. My smoke pump is a BVM (Sorry Dirk, it was sitting on the bench). I agree with all of you who say this is a superbly painted and a quality airplane. It's performance in the air is also superb............

Finally; it was a George Strait day (Blue Clear Sky) in Arizona, so we took the drive to our world famous lake bed north of Kingman to maiden our "Mini". A very cool morning (47f) by southwest standards, the K-70 roared into life and the newest addition to our stable smoothly rotated into the air. A first occurred in my many years of jetting, absolutely no trim required. Not using more that 1/2 throttle (remember, cool temps) the flight was enjoyable from the very beginning. My maiden shakes quit as soon as the gear came up and an effortless 6 minute flight was fun and relaxing. Inverted flight demonstrated a perfect balance (middle of the wing tube), and loops as big as you like to make them. With no wind, the smoke simply hung in the air. Time to land: Half flap (one click elevator in flight mode), Full flap, one more up click on Elevator. A landing pass, then an uneventful landing; nose up, power on, touch the mains, idle power and the nose wheel touches surface........no brakes necessary as it's a hard, but dirt surface. YAHOOOOOO. Check the fuel: Half a tank remaining. Wow, this little 70 is truly powerful and fuel efficient.
this is usually an indication of nose heavy CG.

Engine test of the K-60G in the Little Mini Fortune went fine, started right up and ran OK!
I did notice the engine clamp sits loose on the engine body - Barry Hou from Kingtech USA was kind enough to offer a free replacement - i am waiting for that to arrive - in the meanwhile some aluminum tape on the inside of the clamp seems to hold the motor firm.

Lior even 200mm might be nose heavy still. I was moving it back every flight and simply ran out of stuff to move back easily while at the event. 200 should be a nice starting spot though but I am sure it can go back more then that. I had all the batteries around the main fuel tank. The UAT was in the nose... This made it hard to move the CG back. I was going off the original factory CG and that was so nose heavy it really flew pretty bad and should never be used.

when yours is without fuel, sitting on the gear, if you tilt back on the tail - does it stay sitting on the tail (nose in the air)?

Attached are the factory recommended CG and travel values.
for CG i used 200mm.
Travels are like T-One recommended but with lower flap takeoff value (about 20mm rather than 45mm) and as much rudder as i could squeeze out (much more than 22mm).
i did find i had to use a lot of Expo on the controls and A LOT of DOWN elevator mixing upon deploying flaps (this is very reasonable with close to neutral CG) - i will measure those values too and post them as soon as i can.

Cool, Snarky, Fast, Sierra Hotel ! All superlatives to describe the Mini T-1. Easily fits in a Mini SUV and five minutes after arriving at the field she is ready for fuel. 10 minute flights with the K-70. Nothing but pure enjoyment, and after 14 flights she looks as good as it did right out of the box. Need I mention it lands as easily as a Giant Ugly Stik! Perfect airplane for an old man.........

Has anyone flown one with a K-85? I’ve got a K-85 on the bench and a K-70 on order so I’m in the fortunate position to choose between the two turbine sizes.
What all-up ready to fly weights are you finding on the mini?
My T-1 (bigger T-1) weights 39 lbs full of fuel and smoke oil and my K140 is plenty of power, I would like to keep the mini as light as possible but I also need to be able to take-off on a 300’ asphalt strip. Thanks- Tom

Getting closer to finishing my mini T-1, I have a question though, I’m about to put the servos in the wing and tail (Savox 1250) with the mounts that come with the kit you cannot use the rubber mounting grommets, is everyone hard mounting their servos and having no issues?
cant wait to fly it now!
