RE: What do you think about JETLEGEND L39?

Jeff

I have had more than 100 flights on my L39 and I would not have bothered to repaint it and correct some of the scale defects that are apparent if I didn't think it was a good model. I...

I admire your product loyalty, but for your own peace of mind ask your mate at work a couple of questions. Where is the centre of aerodynamic pressure situated, If he knows anything about...

RE: What do you think about JETLEGEND L39?

Well at least the change to hot glue is an indication that they are aware that a fully cured lay-up does not bond to fresh lay-up resin. or it could mean that they have found a faster and cheaper way...

RE: What do you think about JETLEGEND L39?

It is interesting to note that all of the bonds between the wing skin and the balsa ribs have parted company with consummate ease. Alarming, as I would expect the relatively weak balsa to have failed...

RE: What do you think about JETLEGEND L39?

What you say is true about the neutral point in the centre of the tube but it also applies to the section of tube wall thickness that is not at the top or bottom so very little of the cross...

RE: What do you think about JETLEGEND L39?

A somewhat irrelevant but interesting point is that the full size L39 has a one piece wing that is held on by four bolts only. Thats because they put them in the right places!!

RE: What do you think about JETLEGEND L39?

It sounds like we are on the same track, I think that the solid bar insert will suffice to make the model safe but the tube idea still sucks.

Any chance that you can get the factory to...

RE: What do you think about JETLEGEND L39?

The 1/8th gap that I am talking about is located on the main bulkhead that the clamps are mounted on and it is right inside the wing root part os the fus. Maybe not all examples have this fault but...

RE: What do you think about JETLEGEND L39?

I agree that the alum. tube on the outside is better in most respects but the major problem is bonding it to the mainspar. the expansion properties are also very different.

There are different...

I really don't like the sound of the carbon rod being made up from tubes within tubes, this is a real no no because the stresses are focussed along the surface, meaning that your component...

RE: What do you think about JETLEGEND L39?

IMPORTANT Safety Bulletin JL-L39
I would advise all JL-L39 owners to read this carefully, I was a witness to the total demise of the Christos/Nicholas L39. The model took-off in a normal manor and...

It sounds like you have the main doors open when landing? The doors should shut once the gear is down. I use a UP-2 which works v.well.

RE: What do you think about JETLEGEND L39?

I recently checked the incidence at the wing tips of my L39 and I was surprised to see that it had 1 degree of positive distortion on the left wing tip. That would explain why it has always needed a...

Hi Guys

I'm having so much fun with this L39 I decided to take the scale documentation a little further than VH-ATD which we all know is a little off for top competition flying.
Having looked...

RE: What do you think about JETLEGEND L39?

Another point worth mentioning is that you should keep the speed brake axle as close to the Fus. as possible as this will reduce the slide-effect as it opens.

RE: What do you think about JETLEGEND L39?

Hi

I measured the elevator and rudder at the fus. end. The flap and aileron, measured at the wing section between the two.

RE: What do you think about JETLEGEND L39?

I needed about the same weight, so I made up the weight by fitting some big batteries in the nose. One for smoke and two for the powerbox and one for the ECU.
Flew it again on Sat. and it has now...

RE: What do you think about JETLEGEND L39?

The problem with using air for the airbrake is that it is not proportional. I used a high torque servo from ACT and mixed it with the flap. The result was no trim change because the brake produces a...
