Agree with the last comments. 21x12 and 22x10 are props for 55-60cc engines.

Speaking of the VVRC 40 twin, does anyone know if they have discontinued this engine or are they updating it? I have heard both repponses.

I am not sure what VVRC is doing with regard to selling more of their 40 twin but they have been installing V2 crankshafts in the engines that have problems, mine were still under warranty. I just received both of mine back from them today with new cranks in both of them .
A big " Thank You " to the crew at VVRC for their top notch service .

I received my VVRC 40 Twin back from Valley view RC after having the crankshaft replaced on warranty.
Flew seven 10 to 12 minute flights this weekend. It starts easily, runs well with lots of power. After a few gentle flights it would rev to 7500 RPM with a 20x8 prop. Prop tip speed is getting a little high (and loud) so might go to a 20x10 to drop the RPM back a bit.
It is a good powerful engine that fits nicely inside the cowls of a range of 30cc size models.
Support from VVRC was great. Hope the new crankshaft lasts a long time, great little engine.

That's what happens when half the quote is used. As described above, tuned pipes will be used on this mill as I do all of my gassies. For example my piped OS GT33 turns a 20.5x10 PN APC at 7000 (ground) which is about perfect for my application. Pipes boost torque and rpm. On the other hand it may turn out to have only the power of the 33; we'll see....

I agree that on regular muffler, a 20x8 to 20x10 is probably about right for the twin.

Just bought the 21cc from Valley view and am looking forward to this in my topflight corsair next spring. Almost to paint stage on it and, time permitting, I will have this plane ready for flight early 2016

Just bought a 20 cc vvrc engine from VView. It runs very nice in a test stand. Idols good and should power my 60 easy stick very well running a 15x8 prop for now. What a nice engine for the price you can't beat it. Low compression too starts easy with my 12 volt tower hobbies starter.

Default Valley view rc brand engines

It did't make it past the test stand however. Something went wrong with it. Sent it back to vvrc had it back in two weeks. Runs good now. Pulls strong and will pull my easy stik 60, 67in wingspan 7- 71/2 lb stik straight up. I'm using a 16x6 prop at 7800 -8000 rpm. Not broke in yet pennsoil 32-1 outdoor 2 cycle oil and reg 87 octane gas. I tried true fuel and synthetic oil . It runs the same. So my view is why spend 6.00 a quart on gas mix 24.00 a gallon when it runs good on 3.00 a gallon gas and the enthonal won't hurt the carb either in these newer motors. Just say'n

geeter, a 15x8 is way too small a prop for that engine. It's going to allow it to turn up rpm well in excess of what it should. Run at WOT it'll probably run really well - until it doesn't. Then it's going to be pretty much a pile of scrap.

Ditto on the last post. I run 16x8x3, 17x6, 17x8N, and 18x6 props on my 20cc engines. If you have to run small props, increase your pitch or retard the timing to 20 degrees BTDC.

I was just going by what the website said . It said 15x 8 or 17x 6 . Well I have a 18x 6 or a 14x 10 I can use. Like you said using a smaller prop ... More pitch. Well 15x8 is a smaller prop and more pitch than a 17x6. I'll go with the 18 x6 I have room for it. And thanks...... Ron

It does seem a bit strange but if you look at the specifications for the VVRC 20cc engine at the VV web site, it shows a 15x 8 as one of the props suitable for the engine. It also shows an rpm range up to 9,000 rpm which I would guess a 15x 8 prop would approach.

I have always used a 17x 6 prop for my 20cc engines and they give about 8,400 rpm give or take a 100 rpm. I have both VV and DLE 20's.

Give a 17x 6 a try. If you get 8,200 to 8,500 rpm with that prop I think you will be very pleased with the engine performance.

A 15x10 would load it right (on planes intended to run in excess of 100mph), but the more commonly used props would be a 16x8 or a 17x6. You're looking for about 8500 on the ground max. -Al

I'll be getting the engine back tomorrow. Thanks valley view. I will get a 17x 6 prop for it. Right away. I hope it stays running good because I have a smoke system on the plane now and about another couple weeks at most to fly here in the east..... Maybe more.

Hi SigMan, Does the 40cc twin have the cm6 plugs or the smaller 1\4" plugs?

Many Thanks

Nothing wrong with my vv rc 20cc. I found a faulty ign switch in the plane after I got it back. I replaced it and is running good now. It is just a radio switch like you have for rx shut off but was intermittent and it made the engine miss like crazy . Powerful little sucker.

Hi

Just bench-ran my VVRC 40cc twin 'Classic'. Sucker popped on the first hit of the starter on choke, then roared to life on the first hit of the starter. Ran through 22 ounces in a single run at various throttle settings. SUPER smooth! Barely any noticeable vibration and 1700 idle. I'm excited to put this in the H-9 Cessna!

After a 7 month long issue with 3 DLE 20's sent to me by Tower, I finally demanded a refund. They tried to make good on it but to no avail. Hand flip, starter, it doesn't matter when the engine has NO compression, new from the box. They offered a refund and I accepted. I bought a VVRC 20, installed it, and it was running in 4 flips. Seriously, 4.

I am installing a VV 40 twin in my Great Planes Pitts. I cannot figure out how to hook the throttle servo to the carb. No matter what I do I cannot get the angles to work. I tried reversing the arm on the carb too. Can someone post pictures of how you made the throttle set up work on your plane? Thanks.

Hey I am answering my own question! I think I just figured it out. I removed the lever off the carb and turned it around with the stamping number to the inside and now it aligns completely normal and should be able to connect a servo.

Hi, has anyone ordered its VVRC from hobby-china.com before? I'm looking at 20cc, but the price seems surprisingly low at $152 (with a discount from $229). Is it safe to buy it from this seller or I'm in danger of buying a fake?
